Parkway West Lanes Shut Down Due To Car Fire
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A section of the Parkway West closed early Saturday evening after a car caught fire.
It happened in Green Tree around 5:45 p.m.
According to state police, a 66-year-old driver was looking away from the road to grab his coffee and struck the vehicle in front of him.
Shortly after the crash, he saw small flames underneath his car and backed his car away from the other vehicle. The car eventually became fully engulfed in flames.
State police say the 66-year-old driver sustained an injury of unknown severity.
A passenger in the other vehicle sustained a back injury. She was sent to a local hospital for treatment.
Outbound lanes were shut down between Exit 67 and Exit 65.
