Paralympic Gold Medalist Helps Mark 2nd Anniversary Of CHP's Rehab Unit
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The Children's Hospital Rehabilitation Unit celebrated its second birthday on Tuesday.
As part of the celebrations, 2014 Paralympian and gold medalist Dan McCoy visited patients and their families.
The captain of the Mighty Penguins sled hockey team was on hand with an autographed jersey from the team that was dedicated to the unit.
He says sharing his achievements with the kids allows them to see dreams can come true.
"Just to see their faces and see they're developing dreams of their own," McCoy said. "I was their age when I got the dream of being in the Paralympics and really, when I got into sports, I was as young as some of them are."
The eight-bed rehab unit helps kids recover from an injury, illness or a surgery.
