Paralympian Daniel McCoy Excited To Represent USA

PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- The Paralympics will take place in March in Russia. Local sled hockey player Daniel McCoy, who has spina bifida, is one of 17 players to make Team USA.

McCoy said the whole journey has been incredible.

"It's more than I could have ever thought I would experience in my life," McCoy said. "Everyone of my family and friends and everyone in the city of Pittsburgh has been so supportive, it's just been an incredible feeling to be able to go to the Paralympics and represent my country and the city of Pittsburgh."

The United States sled hockey team won gold in 2010. Douglas asked if the players feel pressure to repeat.

"Everyone in the locker room obviously has that in the back of their mind," he said. "But we're looking at this as a whole new tournament. Teams from all over the world are much better than they were four years ago. So we really have to bring our 'A' game, and not take anything for granted."
