1 Person Shot During Lower Burrell Carjacking
LOWER BURRELL (KDKA) --- Police are searching for an armed carjacker who allegedly shot his victim.
Authorities in Westmoreland County say the carjacking happened shortly after midnight Tuesday at Jerry's Custard on 7th Street Road in Lower Burrell.
"We don't have shootings up here; it's a quiet neighborhood," says Dennis Marchlewski, a neighbor.
However, Lower Burrell Police say that change when 20-year-old James Pinkston from Arnold pulled into the parking lot of Jerry's Custard stand. Marchlewski's home surveillance cameras caught it all.
"He pulled in to Jerry's Custard, shut his lights off," said Marchlewski. "About 10 minutes later, I see the vehicle take off and see two people leaving the vehicle."
The two people running down the street were Pinkston with a graze wound to the neck and his friend. The suspect then got behind the wheel.
"He came up Wildlife Lodge Road, turned into Jerry's Custard, went through the parking lot, turned around, went out onto 780," Marchlewski said.
Pinkston's car was found not too far away. He was treated and released from the hospital.
The suspect is described as a while male.
While the details on the suspect are sketchy Lower Burrell Police believe this case was a targeted shooting and that generally speaking people in the area need not be worried.
