Woman charged with homicide by vehicle, DUI after fatal 3-vehicle crash on Route 8

BUTLER TOWNSHIP, Pa. (KDKA) -- A woman was charged with homicide by vehicle after a fatal three-vehicle crash on Route 8 in Butler County Tuesday night. 

Butler Township police said 51-year-old Julie Parison of Mars was driving a Ford Fusion south on Route 8 when she rear-ended a Chevrolet Trailblazer that was stopped for a red traffic light at the intersection with Litman Road.

Police said the impact sent the Trailblazer across the road and into a Chevrolet Malibu, which was also stopped at the red light. 

A passenger in the Trailblazer, identified by police as 61-year-old Kevin McAtee of Saxonburg, died while the driver was flown to the hospital.  

Parison and another person were also taken to the hospital. 

Police said while the crash is still under investigation, Parison has been charged with homicide by vehicle, DUI general impairment, reckless driving, careless driving and speeding.
