NOTTINGHAM TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A fire marshal is investigating the cause of a Friday night fire that gutted a home in Nottingham Township in Washington County.

A burnt-out shell is all that's left of a two-story wood-frame home on Ginger Hill Road.

The homeowner, Dennis Leech, runs a restaurant/bar nearby. Often times, he said he'd just walk up the road to work.

"I got a lot of memories here, man, both of us. It's a cozy little house. I have the restaurant at the top of the hill, which is a big old place to handle," Leech said.

Leech's 61-year-old wife was home alone at the time of the fire, along with several pets.

"By the time I got down here, it was all just a big cluster of smoke. At six I called, then I got this text from a passerby and he said, your girl is OK, but your house is on fire," Leech said.

Leech told KDKA News his wife was transported to the hospital, but he does not know exactly what happened.

"She's OK. She's burned up pretty good, but it's all superficial, I think. Her hair is all singed and everything," Leech said.

Leech said he hopes their two cats survived the fire.
