Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Vehicle In North Versailles
NORTH VERSAILLES (KDKA) -- A man has died after being struck by a vehicle early Tuesday morning on a busy road in North Versailles.
The accident happened just after 6 a.m. on Aldi Drive and Mosside Boulevard, near the Home Depot and Denny's restaurant.
KDKA's Amy Wadas Reports:
The windshield on the car involved in the pedestrian crash was visibly shattered on the driver's side as it was being towed away.
"We heard a pedestrian was hit so we assumed it was him, and we were right," said a waitress the victim worked with.
Michelle is a waitress at Denny's on nearby Route 30 in North Versailles. The very place where she said the 60 year-old victim worked as a dishwasher since April.
He has been identified by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office as Kevin Kolesar.
"He lives right across the street from the Home Depot in the retirement building and he walks to work every morning. He arrives one hour before his shift. Never late. Never calls off," said Michelle.
However, this time, he never made it to work. Police say he was hit while walking to work on Mosside Boulevard.
"I got here, pulled in the lot and my employees came out and told me they thought it was him, so I ran up the hill, talked to some people up there and found out what I could," said Denny's Manager Denise Liscio.
Kolesar was taken to the hospital, but did not survive.
The 57-year-old woman driving the car stayed at the scene after the crash.
The victim's manager says he was a hard worker.
"Never complains, just works, never takes a break. He's a great guy and we love him very much," said Liscio.
Allegheny County Police urge anyone who heard or saw anything to give them a call on the Tip Line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS (1-833-255-8477).
