NFL On CBS Analyst Dan Fouts: "[Andy] Dalton Is A Totally Different Guy This Year'
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Hall of Famer Dan Fouts will be on the call for the Steelers-Bengals week 8 matchup and he joined the Starkey and Mueller show to preview the big AFC North matchup.
The Bengals are coming into Heinz Field riding high with a 6-0 record, and Fouts says a lot of that has to do with a very confident Andy Dalton.
"His rating is really high, the way he's been able to distribute the ball to his different weapons has been absolutely perfect," Fouts said. "I think he's getting use to Hugh Jackson's style as an offensive coordinator and how he wants things run because Dalton is a totally different guy this year than he's been in the past. he's much more confident, much more assertive and much more effective."
On the other side of the field, Fouts looked at Ben Roethlisberger playing in his first game back since his knee injury and the bad numbers Roethlisberger has put up in his first game back from injuries throughout his career.
"A lot depends on what he's coming back from and also the opponent he's facing and he'll be facing a tough opponent in Cincinnati. Coming off the bye, the Bengals have been able to study the Steelers for that much more time and they're healthy and they're ready to see if they can get to 7-0 which has never been done in their franchise history," he said.
One think that will certainly help Roethlisberger out is the amount of weapons he has around him and Fouts told us what he thinks about the Steelers dynamic offense.
"It's going to be interesting to me to see how the Bengals will matchup with [Martavis] Bryant and with [Antonio] Brown because now, with Ben coming back, you can't forget about the tight end Heath Miller, Markus Wheaton and Darrius Heyward-Bey, you know there's some weapons there. And with the two running backs in [Le'Veon] Bell and [DeAngelo] Williams, it's going to be in my mind, I think it's going to be a high scoring game."
