New Pens Forward Hornqvist Ready For Opportunity To Play Alongside Crosby
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Coming off a season in which he scored 22 goals for the Nashville Predators, new Penguins winger Patric Hornqvist is looking capitalize on the opportunity presented to him of playing on the teams top line with Sidney Crosby.
Hornqvist joined the Starkey and Mueller Show and said, "Obviously I can get to another level if I can keep playing with Sid. That's going to be huge for me. I really haven't had any centers like that in the middle."
Given that Hornqvist has spent his entire career in the Western Conference, the guys asked him to describe his game to Pens fans so they know what to expect from him come Thursday night.
"Obviously I'm a power forward who likes to take pucks to the net and create some space for my teammates and give my teammates some energy too," he said.
A big part of what Hornqvist brought to the Predators was his net front presence on the power play and he told us what he can bring to the table for the Pens power play.
"I try to be the net front guy and tried to score on tips and rebounds," he said. "Now it's a little different with Sid and Geno out there and you have to try and get open. If we don't have that big of a shot up top, we get a lot of good plays down low."
