New Pens Forward Blake Comeau Says He Came To Win Stanley Cup
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired some new faces over the past few days, including Blake Comeau.
He joined The Cook and Poni Show on Thursday to discuss his signing with the Penguins.
Comeau signed a one-year deal with the Pens when free agency began on Tuesday, July 1.
Comeau says he had interest from a few teams, but the decision to come to Pittsburgh was an easy one.
"I think every player knows around the league that Pittsburgh is looking to win every year and the ultimate goal is the Stanley Cup and they compete for it every year," Comeau said. "So I thought this was a good opportunity for me to join the club and have a chance to win the Stanley Cup and play with some really great players."
Comeau says that he is a pretty physical player and one of the hardest hitters in the league -- which he says is what made the Penguins interested in him.
"They mentioned to me they wanted guys to be able to skate and play up tempo with an edge," Commeau said. "I think that is exactly what my game is, so I'm looking forward going to a team that knows what I bring to the table so I can play the way I think I need to play. They know what kind of player I was and they liked what they saw."
Comeau said he can play either wing and he hopes that versatility will help him get into the lineup.
