New Castle Man Drops Ring During Televised Yankee Stadium Engagement
NEW CASTLE (KDKA) -- It was a huge moment for a New Castle man. He was about to propose to his girlfriend on baseball's biggest stage: Yankee Stadium. But the ring slipped through his fingers.
"I got on my knee, pulled the ring from my pocket, opened the box, and the ring just instantly fell to the ground," Andrew Fox recalls. "I couldn't tell where it went."
Fans ignored what was happening on the baseball diamond - as they tried to help the couple find the diamond ring.
"They could see how depressed I was, I guess," he says. "And it's almost like they felt the same way that I did. They were trying to find he ring as much as I was, and that was great."
The would-be groom was in tears. His big moment was slipping away.
"After about five minutes of looking for it, me being really scared it was totally lost, right their into the cuff." He gestures toward the cuff of his girl friend's jeans. Right there. It fell right into there."
They found the ring, and as they say, "The crowd goes wild!"
He went down on a knee to complete the proposal. And she said, "Yes."
