Murder Of Elderly North Braddock Woman Remains A Mystery

NORTH BRADDOCK (KDKA) -- Police are asking for help from the public as they continue to investigate the death of an elderly woman in her North Braddock home back in February.

Amelia Roman was a 92-year-old woman who lived alone in her small Jones Avenue home in North Braddock.

But, two and a half months after she was found dead on the first floor of her residence, investigators have been unable to find the person or persons responsible for her death.

Detective Robert Opferman, of the Allegheny County Police, says Roman's hands and feet were found bound with duct tape and there was evidence someone made a forced entry into her home.

It's not known what may have been stolen.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner has ruled her death a homicide due at least in part to "physical restraint."

North Braddock Borough Councilman Chris Roland called Roman's death "a horrific event, something that shouldn't have happened here or anywhere else."

Roland told KDKA-TV's Ralph Iannotti, "Roman was a staple in the community, always outside cleaning the street or sidewalk in front of her home."
