Movie Review: The Avengers: Age Of Ultron

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Sit back and immerse yourself in one heck of an explosive superhero movie, but good luck trying to take it all in.

That's the best advice I can give you when watching "Avengers: Age of Ultron" because there is a lot going on in 2 ½ hours.

Want another tip? Seeing this movie once will probably not be enough.

"Avengers: Age of Ultron" is the sequel to 2012's "The Avengers."

The three-year wait was definitely worth it, as the new Avengers definitely didn't disappoint.

Of course, the incredible fight scenes are there and the movie actually throws you right into the action from scene one.

The mind-blowing special effects are only helped by seeing it in 3D.

The usual suspects return in "The Avengers: Age of Ultron," including Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Chris Evans (Captain America), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye).

The movie also features a few new characters, including a pair of Eastern European wonder twins with some awesome superpowers. Quicksilver, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Scarlet Witch, played by Elizabeth Olsen.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I grew to like Olsen by the end of the movie.

Don't think you can forget Ultron himself (is a bot himself?)

Is there any more of a movie/TV badass than James Spader right now? Seriously, the man can do it all.

The Ultron bot is created thanks to Tony Stark, a secret project he was working on that apparently got out of hand.

And don't forget Paul Bettany (Vision): who finally gets some face time in this movie, after doing several Iron-Man voice-overs.

It's also nice to see Jeremy Renner get some love in the new movie. Who knew Hawkeye had another whole side to him? You'll see.

But, let's just say, "You know, I totally support your avenging," could be the most talked about line from the movie.

This is what brings me to my major criticism of the film: There's so much going on and it ends up complicating the movie.

There are so many storylines interweaved that it can be hard to keep up. Throw in major fight scenes from all across the world and it sort of leaves you numb.

It's a tough task for director Joss Whedon: How do you balance mind-blowing action and special effects, the comradery of superheroes, and so many different story lines?

We've definitely learned that Whedon knows how to do one of these, the on-screen chemistry and interactions between the actors makes you feel like they're a group of your friends.

In fact, this takes me back to an earlier tip: you're probably going to want to see the movie again, because you might miss a lot of dialogue due to people laughing.

Overall, "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" is a captivating movie that will definitely entertain and doesn't disappoint. It's worth seeing in the theater, and it's worth seeing in 3D.

It's what you come to expect from an Avengers movie.

I give "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" an A-. It's action-packed, full of comedy, and it will no doubt be one of the biggest blockbusters of the summer.
