Motorcyclist Killed In Murrysville Crash

MURRYSVILLE (KDKA) – A motorcyclist was killed in a crash with an SUV in Murrysville Tuesday afternoon.

The accident happened in the 4800-block of Old William Penn Highway just after 2 p.m.

According to the Westmoreland County Coroner's Office, 21-year-old Zachary Wright of Hunker was headed east along road when the SUV pulled out of a parking lot in front of him.

The motorcycle collided with the SUV and Wright was thrown off onto the road. He became pinned under one of the SUV's tires.

The coroner's office pronounced him dead at the scene around 3 p.m.

"The reconstructionist is here from the state; he's going to start his investigation right now," said Det. Sgt. Tom Kusinsky, of the Murrysville Police Department.

The driver of the SUV was treated at the scene and questioned by police.

The coroner's office says Wright was wearing a helmet. An autopsy will be performed on Wednesday.

The road was shut down between School and Cline Hollow Roads for several hours, but has since reopened to traffic.

State Police and Murrysville Police are investigating the crash.
