Morgantown Teen Sentenced In Friend's Stabbing Death
MORGANTOWN, W. Va. (KDKA) -- A teenage girl from Morgantown, W. Va., will spend 30 years in prison in connection with her friend's death.
In court Wednesday, 17-year-old Rachel Shoaf apologized to the family of Skylar Neese.
"I don't know if there's a proper way to make this apology," she said. "The person that did that was not the real me, not the person I am, not what I'm made of and not what I believe in. I became scared and caught up in something I did not want to do."
Shoaf and Sheila Eddy are accused in Neese's July 2012 death. She was stabbed with a kitchen knife at least 10 times.
Neese's body was then dumped in a wooded area across the Pennsylvania state line in Greene County.
Neese's parents say they'll never have closure.
"You can never, ever say you're sorry to me or my wife because you're not… there will never be closure to us as far as you two are concerned," Neese's father said.
Shoaf pleaded guilty to second-degree murder
Last month, Eddy was sentenced to life in prison. She pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.
Investigators never revealed a motive in the murder, only that Shoaf told police that she and Eddy no longer wanted to be friends with Neese.
