11/11/2019 Update:

This story has been updated to reflect that some charges against the suspect, 44-year-old Frank Bole, were withdrawn.

Bole was only convicted on two counts of Disorderly Conduct.

MONROEVILLE (KDKA) - A Monroeville man is facing charges after police found an explosive device inside his home.

According to the criminal complaint, police executed a search warrant at a home in the 1900 block of Gregory Drive on Wednesday.

An explosive device was found inside the man's safe in a living room. It was described as being no longer than eight-inches, and a "small cylindrical object with a fuse at one end."

The suspect, 44-year-old Frank Bole, admitted to making the device, but said he didn't intend to hurt anyone with it.

The Bomb Squad destroyed the device.

Authorities said they had initially suspected him of dealing drugs out of his home.

And police also found suspected methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia like marijuana plants, a meth pipe and hydrocodone pills. Bole told police he acquired methamphetamine and has sold some it as well.

Neighbors say it's all so surprising.

"It was pretty surprising because this is a pretty quiet neighborhood. He keeps to himself, we would just see him in passing," said one neighbor who didn't want to be identified. "Never any issues with him over there. Big surprise."

Bole is being held in the Allegheny County Jail on $500,000 bond. He is facing a number of charges including possessing a weapon of mass destruction.

He is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on May 14.
