LATROBE (KDKA) – The mother of a missing Westmoreland County woman fears something terrible has happened to her daughter.

According to police, 51-year-old Cassandra Gross was last heard from around 3:30 p.m. on April 7.

"I know my daughter is no longer alive. I'm as sure of that as I am looking at you," said Kathe Gross, Cassie's mom.

Gross lives at Edgwater Village in Latrobe. Kathe said she sent her husband to check Cassie's apartment, and they've been trying to call her.

"She wasn't there, the dog wasn't there. He tried to call. Her cell phone, it went straight to voicemail, that's not good, it's connected to her ear," said Kathe.

She drives a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander with Pennsylvania license plate HLP-1411. According to state police, the vehicle was found in the Twin Lakes area of Hempfield Township Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the vehicle was burned and found near the railroad tracks.

"There's a vehicle that was put in the woods, and it appears it was set on fire," said Trooper Stephen Limani, of Pennsylvania State Police.

Gross' mother wants her daughter to be found and to come home.

"I want her found, and I want her brought home," she said.

Kathe wouldn't identify him, but told KDKA that a man had been terrorizing and stalking her daughter for some time. She believes the answer to what happened to Cassie, and where she is, lies with that individual.

Meanwhile, Gross' dog was found a significant distance from her home. Her mother said the dog is half blind and diabetic. She also said there is no way her daughter would be without the dog.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
