Woman Fatally Stabbed In Hill District Home, Suspect Arrested

MIDDLE HILL (KDKA) -- A man has been arrested for fatally stabbing a woman in the Hill District on Friday afternoon.

It was an emotional scene near police crime scene tape outside a split level home in the 600-block of Frances Court, where neighbors and relatives gathered.

As word spread there had been an incident, police and paramedics converged on the area. One woman could be heard yelling, "What did he do? What did he do?"

It is a generally quiet neighborhood, off Wylie Avenue, in the middle Hill District.

Police were notified after a call into 911 just before 4 p.m. about a commotion. Investigators described the incident as a violent domestic.

The victim had been stabbed multiple times. She was found in the basement of the house, rushed to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, where she died around 4:45 p.m.

The Allegheny County medical examiner's office has identified the victim as 34-year-old Makebia Morgan, of Swissvale.

A man believed to be the suspect was immediately taken into custody.

Neighbors said he lived in the home, with his father. The relationship between the dead woman and the occupants of the home was not immediately clear.

According to one neighbor, the suspect was quickly taken into custody, and himself, transported to a hospital to be treated for several cuts.

Saturday morning, police identified the suspect as 31-year-old Quincy Fuqua. After Fuqua was released from the hospital, he was taken to police headquarters and placed under arrest.

Fuqua is facing one charge of criminal homicide.
