Man and bystander shot, woman beaten during violent domestic dispute in McKees Rocks
MCKEES ROCKS, Pa. (KDKA) — A man and bystander were shot and a woman was beaten during a domestic violence incident in McKees Rocks on Wednesday, police said.
Allegheny County police said the call for a shooting on Lake Street came in around 2:30 p.m. When first responders got there, they said they found a man who had been shot and a woman who had been beaten. A third person flagged down a sheriff's deputy nearby and said he'd also been shot in the neck.
Police said everyone was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Investigators said the man was beating his girlfriend inside the home on Lake Street. During the fight, the woman grabbed a gun and shot her boyfriend in the stomach. The man then took the gun and beat the woman with it.
The fight spilled outside, and that's when police said the man shot a victim who was driving by in the neck. Police said the victim stopped to see what was going on and the man turned around and shot him.
Allegheny County police said 28-year-old Gene Brown is facing multiple charges, including attempted homicide and aggravated assault. He also had multiple felony warrants for his arrest. Brown was taken to the Allegheny County Jail.
The criminal complaint against Brown says this dispute started on Tuesday. Brown's girlfriend said he destroyed her house, choked her, tied her up, and threatened to kill her and burn down her house.
Wednesday was not the first time police responded to the home on Lake Street. According to court records, the couple got into a fight in July. Police say the woman was covered in blood and had cuts to her shoulder and forearm. Police said her boyfriend ran away before police could catch him.
Two months later, police said they fought again. Court documents show the man took off with his girlfriend's Jeep and she chased him through the streets in her other car. He stopped and ran away with a gun, something he wasn't supposed to have after being convicted of robbery in 2014.
