Mayor, Councilwoman Kick Off Northside Sandwich Week
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- They make food from scratch, at Scratch Food and Beverage.
The Troy Hill restaurant is hosting "Meat in the Middle," kicking off Northside Sandwich Week with Mayor Bill Peduto and City Councilwoman Darlene Harris.
The fifth annual sandwich week includes at least 14 Northside restaurants.
They call it: "Episode Five: The Pastrami Fights Back."
A highlight of the 10-day "week" is a "sandwich sampler" at the Grand Hall at the Priory. For $40, you get to sample sandwiches from each of the participants, and they'll throw in a couple of craft beers.

Mark Fatla, executive director of the Northside Leadership Conference, says he's led all five sandwich weeks.
"It's helping to share with everybody what we Northsiders already know. There's a lot of wonderful things here. Great food, great beverages, great people," he says.
The mayor chows down on a braunschweiger sandwich, and Darlene Harris enjoys ham salad.
"It's a way for the Northside to come together, and be able to show great unique business to help to identify what all the separate neighborhoods are, and come together as one," Mayor Peduto says.
