Man Trying To Warm Up ATV With Propane Heater Sparks Fire

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A man trying to get an ATV to start set his house on fire Saturday afternoon in Beaver County.

Bill Williams says he wanted to plow the driveway on Rose Lane in Independence Township, but the ATV wasn't starting because of the cold weather.

He says he put a propane heater next to it, and then went to his neighbor's house.

"When I made it back to the shed, it was burning," said Williams. "So I ran in the house to get a fire extinguisher and when I come back out, the smoke was so bad I couldn't go in. I couldn't see nothing."

The flames spread to his house and set off some ammunition stored inside.
