Man shot, killed outside Pittsburgh convenience store
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A man was shot and killed outside a convenience store in Pittsburgh's Knoxville neighborhood.
Police said they were called to Amanda Street for reports of a man shot outside Triangle Mart shortly before 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
When first responders got there, they found a 51-year-old at the back of the building with a gunshot wound to his chest, police said. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he later died.
The man has been identified by the medical examiner's office as Anthony Walker.
Detectives are investigating and reviewing video, police said. Crime scene tape blocked off the front of the convenience store as police investigated.
A woman who told KDKA-TV that she was a friend of Walker said things like this keep happening in her neighborhood and it makes her want to move.
"It's just another friend gone," Stephanie Sikora said.
"He was just a good person, all around. Comes from a good family, and they don't do nothing to nobody," she added. "He didn't deserve this."
Sikora said she has lost a dozen friends to gun violence.
"It's never going to change unless they do something about it, and they have cameras here and they still don't solve it," she said.
Police said they do not have any suspects.
"He did tell people in the store he knew who did it, so that is the information police will be working with," Pittsburgh Public Safety spokesperson Cara Cruz said.
