Man Sentenced To Life For 2012 Penn Hills Double Murder

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A man convicted in the 2012 shooting deaths of a mother and son in Penn Hills was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday.

Andre Davis was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole in connection with the deaths of Angela Proctor, 51, and her son, Manning, 22.

Police say the night of deadly gunfire was triggered by a fight over money - a very small amount of money, according to Allegheny County detectives. Evidence at the scene pointed to Davis.

Authorities located the murder weapon, which police say Davis got rid of after the killings.

Since then, Davis has been locked up on homicide charges.

Andre Frazier, who authorities say was the original target, was shot three times. However, he survived.

During the trial earlier this year, prosecutors showed the jury letters sent from Davis to Frazier.

One letter read: "I need you there to tell the jury that I didn't shoot you… and I can beat this."

The victims' family spoke about the judge's decision on the sentence.

"It almost felt like it was her family that was going through it," said Jermaine Jacobs, the son and brother of the victims. "So, I felt very satisfied with the judge and how she handled everything."

He says the road ahead will be tough, but wanted to share these final words with the community.

"I would maybe like to spread a message about the violence in our community; and hopefully, people can look at this situation and see that it's not worth it, and that violence isn't the answer to anything," Jacobs added.
