Man pinned between trailer and loading dock in Harmar Township killed

HARMAR TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A man is dead after being pinned between a box trailer and loading dock in Harmar Township on Monday morning, Allegheny County police said.

The county police reconstruction team is investigating the cause.

It happened after 10:30 a.m. on Nixon Road. The man became pinned by the trailer and died at the scene. He is being identified as 64-year-old Samuel Plazio of Vandergrift.

Packaging Corporation of America said Plazio was working as a third-party contractor.

A worker told KDKA Plazio worked for J.A. Trucking based out of West Newton. He said he was a truck driver and from the area.

The worker also said the truck that hit the victim was a J.A. Truck connected to an ECM trailer. KDKA reached out to J.A. Trucking, but no one from the company has returned our call yet.

Packaging Corporation of America released this statement: "Our thoughts and condolences are with his family."

OSHA is also investigating and said it doesn't appear the facility or the trucking company has any prior safety violations.

Anyone with information on the incident is being asked to call the county police tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
