Man Killed By Homeowner After Breaking Into California Borough Home

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Authorities have now identified the suspect who was shot and killed during an alleged home invasion overnight in California Borough.

Police say the man broke into the California Road home around 3:35 a.m. through a window.

The Washington County Coroner's Office has identified him as 37-year-old Emanuel Ladson of Pittsburgh.

After getting inside the home, investigators say Ladson was confronted in the kitchen by the homeowner who had a gun.

The homeowner told police the man then charged at him, prompting the homeowner to fire a single shot from a handgun, hitting the intruder in the chest.

Authorities say Ladson ran outside and collapsed in the yard.

He was taken to Monongahela Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead just after 4:45 a.m.

State Police and California Borough Police continue to investigate the incident.
