Man Dies After Becoming Pinned Under Tractor

MOUNT PLEASANT TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A man died Thursday afternoon after becoming pinned under some farming equipment in Westmoreland County.

The accident happened around 4:20 p.m. in the 200-block of Neiderhiser Road in Mount Pleasant Township.

The Westmoreland County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 77-year-old Paul Christie.

According to investigators, Christie was found in his garage underneath a piece of large lawn mowing equipment. It had fallen on his chest.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The coroner's office reports Christie died of compressive asphyxiation.
