Man charged with harassing local TV news anchor arrested for violating conditions of bond

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A man charged with harassing a local television news anchor was taken into custody after the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office said he violated the conditions of his bond.

Phillip Franks was charged in March with harassment of a woman TV news anchor that dates back to 2020, the sheriff's office said. The victim said Franks has continued his conduct, leading to the current charge.

Franks was scheduled for a preliminary hearing on the harassment charge last month, but at a hearing Friday, the sheriff's office said it was determined his failure to appear in court was in violation of the conditions of his bond. A judge issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

Detectives from the sheriff's office said they found him at his home on Penn Avenue and took him into custody. He was taken to the Allegheny County Jail.
