Man Arrested, Charged With Selling Fentanyl-Laced Heroin
ROSS TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – Ross Township police have arrested a man accused of selling fentanyl-laced heroin.
A combined investigation by police in Ross and Springdale townships, along with the Allegheny County District Attorney's Narcotics Team, resulted in the arrest.
Mark Bochicchio, 36, of Glenshaw, is charged with multiple counts of possession, and sale of heroin and cocaine.
"He sold this heroin, as well as cocaine, to an undercover police officer on multiple occasions," says Detective Brian Kohlhepp, of the Ross Police Department.
"Not guilty, I'll tell you that," said Bochicchio as he walked to a waiting police cruiser.
Bochicchio is also accused of selling fentanyl-mixed heroin labeled, "Theraflu" and "Bud Ice."
The potentially deadly mixture has been fatal in 14 cases, logged locally by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner. There are also six more suspected cases pending.
"The Allegheny County Office of the Medical Examiner processed this in an expedited fashion because of the dangerousness of this substance being on the street, and it was positive for the fentanyl-mixed heroin," said Detective Kohlhepp.
The alleged sales occurred through northern parts of the county, including Shaler and Hampton townships and Pittsburgh's North Side.
"I would not classify him as a high-level dealer," Detective Kohlhepp said.
On his Facebook page, Bochicchio says he formerly worked as a teller at PNC Bank branches.
He was arrested at his parent's home on Vollmer Drive. No buys are believed to have been made from that address.
Doug Turner was floored by his neighbor's arrest.
"Wow, I'll pray for the family," Turner said.
Investigators do not believe that Bochicchio is linked to any of the fentanyl-heroin deaths in our area.
