Man Arrested After Stabbing Incident At North Strabane Bar
NORTH STRABANE (KDKA) – A local man was stabbed while leaving a bar in North Strabane early Sunday morning. Instead of collapsing, the man walked to another bar for help and had no idea he had been stabbed.
The stabbing happened outside Rita's Cantina, just as the place was closing down for the night.
Rene Armando Borjas Pazo was picked up by North Strabane Police after allegedly stabbing one man and then making threats towards another at a separate location.
According to police, around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Pazo, armed with a kitchen knife, stabbed a man outside Rita's Cantina.
Originally, the victim, Edward Scott, thought he had been hit by a stun gun, according to court papers. However, responding officers discovered quickly that was not the case.
"He was not Tasered, he was actually stabbed," Det. Michael Lukanski said. "That individual had since walked to another bar down the street and located by our patrol officers and found to have been lying in a large pool of blood."
The victim was found about a block away outside B&B Tavern and taken to Canonsburg General Hospital. Not long after, another call came in for a man threatening another with a knife on Third Street in nearby Houston Borough.
"Through investigation by our patrol officers, we were able to determine that that was the person who was responsible for the stabbing at the bar," Det. Lukanski said.
Police said during interviews with people involved in both incidents, they were able to uncover that this may have been retaliation or a continuation of a previous fight.
"As far as a motive, we believe there was some sort of altercation prior, but the details of that are unclear at this point," Det. Lukanski said.
Pazo is facing a felony count of aggravated assault, as well as recklessly endangering another person, and possessing instruments of a crime.
