Man Accused In 'The Exchange' Armed Robbery, Shooting Indicted
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The man accused of robbing several Pittsburgh-area businesses, including The Exchange store in Ross Township where a clerk was shot last December, has been indicted by a federal grand jury.
The Office for United States Attorney David Hickton announced the 11-count indictment against George Wilson III of Pittsburgh on Tuesday.
According to the indictment, Wilson is accused of committing a series of armed robberies at local businesses from Nov. 2014 to Dec. 2014.
Investigators say Wilson is charged with violating several federal laws, including robbery, use of a firearm and firearm possession.
Police arrested Wilson in January.
He is accused of robbing The Exchange store on McKnight Road back on Dec. 2, 2014. The store clerk was seriously injured when he was shot in the shoulder during the incident.
Authorities say Wilson allegedly robbed two other area Exchange stores, as well as two local Sunoco gas stations and an Exxon gas station.
Due to a prior conviction for a felony offense, officials say Wilson is prohibited from possessing firearms.
Wilson is facing a sentence of 25 years to life in prison and a $250,000 fine.
