Community Mural Project In East Liberty To Remember Mac Miller
EAST LIBERTY (KDKA) -- A local artist got started on a tribute mural remembering late Pittsburgh rapper Mac Miller.
The community project in East Liberty at 250 Paulson Ave. is aimed at celebrating Miller's life.
The 25-foot mural is being created by artist Kyle Holbrook, who runs an organization called "Moving the Lives of Kids Community Mural Project " Or MLK.
This mural is more than personal for Holbrook, who mentored Miller when they painted a mural together in 2008.
"He never forgot. ... always repped the city," Holbrook said. "And I think he's someone Pittsburghers all around the world can be proud of."
People from the community came Wednesday to contribute messages or images for the mural about Miller, who died Sept. 7 at 26 years old.
They expect to work on this mural all week long.
"The more people that come together and work together, that makes it more powerful," Holbrook said. "That makes it more powerful."
Miller was an alumnus of MLK Mural Project.
Miller, born Malcolm McCormick, attended Taylor Allderdice High School.
