Maatta To Miss 4-6 Months After Shoulder Surgery

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Pittsburgh Penguins defensemen Olli Maatta will be out of action for an extended period of time.

According to the Penguins' website, Maatta underwent successful shoulder surgery Thursday. He is expected to miss 4-6 months as a result.

Maatta finished an impressive rookie campaign with 29 points (nine goals, 20 assists) in the regular season. He also added four assists in the playoffs.

On Tuesday, the Penguins announced defense prospect Derrick Pouliot underwent successful shoulder surgery as well.

Pouliot will also miss 4-6 months.
