Report: Maatta Still In Hospital After Scary Injury Against Minnesota
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Olli Maatta remains in the hospital after sustaining an injury during Wednesday night's win over Minnesota.
Maatta was injured during the second period when he was hit by Nino Niederreiter and fell awkwardly into an open door at Minnesota's bench.
According to our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Maatta remained in the hospital Wednesday morning. An update on his condition is expected later today.
Following the hit, Maatta immediately began reaching for his back in obvious pain. He was helped off the ice and taken to the hospital.
No penalty was assessed on the play.
