Lynn Swann Named Athletic Director At USC

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A Pittsburgh Steelers legend is taking over as the athletic director at the University of Southern California.

According to the Trojans' official Twitter account, Lynn Swann has been officially named as the university's athletic director.

University President Max Nikias said Swann will, "bring the heart and soul of a Trojan."

According to the university's website, Swann will take over the position on July 1.

Swann, a USC graduate, replaces Pat Haden, who will be retiring on June 30.

"I am excited about coming back to USC -- its growth and success under President Nikias has been phenomenal and my family and I are looking forward to being a part of that," said Swann in a statement posted on USC's website. "As athletic director, my goals for the student-athletes will be to graduate, to win and to experience."

Swann was drafted in the first round of the 1974 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. During his career, he helped the Steelers win four Super Bowl titles. In 2001, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
