Light Rain, Melting Snow Create Flooding Concerns In Parts Of Area

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The warmer temperatures, melting snow and a day of rain are causing flooding concerns in some areas around the region.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for Beaver, Butler and Lawrence counties.

Forecasters say there are reports of high water at the Connoquenessing Creek. Several roads from Zelienople to Ellport had to be shut down due to flooding.

Cambria, Crawford, Indiana and Somerset counties are under a Flood Watch.

There are also reports of high water and fast-moving ice in Clarion County.

Also, in Allegheny County, a Flood Advisory continues for the Ohio River at Pittsburgh until Tuesday evening. According to forecasters, the river will rise near 21.5 feet Sunday evening.

Officials are warning people to never drive into areas where water covers the road as flood water is usually deeper than it appears.

As for Sunday's forecast, meteorologist Kristin Emery says cooler but drier air will be moving in.

"That's because that cold front will slowly swing through; it'll drop our high back down into the lower to mid-40s," she said. "Here comes an influx of some somewhat colder air. We're saying somewhat because highs will still only be around 40 to 42, not too bad for this time of year."
