LATROBE (KDKA) – Officials are asking for the public's help to identify those responsible for damaging picnic tables in a Westmoreland County park.
According to the Latrobe Parks and Recreation Department, a group of kids entered Legion Keener Park around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday. They left the area around 3:30 a.m.
"We think the ages are 17- to 15-years-old," said Craig Shevchick, the director of Latrobe Parks & Recreation.
During that time, the kids stacked and damaged all of the picnic tables in the park.
"There's about 25 twelve-foot picnic tables they flipped over," said Shevchick. "Underneath our Girl Scout Pavilion, which is one of our most popular pavilions, they actually stacked six-footer tables up to the top."
Officials say the clean-up, repairs and replacements will be expensive.
"Some of the picnic tables are broken," said Shevchick. "Those, anywhere new, are from $850 to $1,000."
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Latrobe Parks and Recreation Department or Latrobe Police.
As if all the damage in Latrobe wasn't bad enough, officials say a group of vandals also took to the baseball field in Youngwood and did some damage as well.
Park and Pool Field saw vandals do what officials say is more than $1,000 in damage, bending gates, breaking open to a storage locker, and spreading lime and field dry all over the place.
This isn't the first-time either field has been vandalized.
