Kris Letang Set To Make Return From Stroke

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Out since suffering a stroke ten-weeks ago, Penguins Defenseman Kris Letang announced that he'll be making his return Wednesday night against the Detroit Red Wings.

Pens General Manager Ray Shero met with reporters to discuss Letang's return and said it was up to him at this point since he was given clearance by his doctors.

"Kris has been bugging me for a little while here for a return to play," Shero said.  "Talked with him on the road trip, talked to him again yesterday, so he feels real good on and off the ice, so he'll be back playing this evening."

The team tweeted out this picture announcing Letang's return.

Letang met with reporters to discuss his return and talked about what it was like hearing from Shero that he'd be allow to play against the Red Wings.

"Happy, obviously," Letang said.  "I think it's a decision between me and him.  We've been chatting for the last few weeks, so relief and really happy to have a chance to play."

With the playoffs starting in a week, the timing couldn't be better for the Pens as they now have their best offensive defenseman back on the ice, and what better tune-up than against one of their potential first round opponents in the Red Wings.
