Kevin Stallings On Renewing Backyard Brawl: 'Obvious That People Wanted This'
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Pitt and West Virginia have announced the renewal of The Backyard Brawl from 2017 to 2020.
Pitt basketball head coach Kevin Stalling joined The Starkey and Mueller Show and told us how excited he is to have this rivalry back on Pitt's schedule.
"When I got here, it was obvious that people wanted to see this series come back," Stallings said. "We said on the front-end that we were going to try to do some things with the non-conference schedule to make it appealing for our fans, and that's what we're trying to do by scheduling a game and a series like this."
Stallings also talked about how easy it was to work with WVU head coach Bob Huggins and his staff to make this a reality.
"It was a very easy game to schedule, a very easy series. Bob and his staff were easy to work with, as we were. We lined up dates quickly. We called them and they said they wanted to play, too, and so we figured out dates," Stallings said.
Pitt will host the games in 2017 and 2019, with the games in 2018 and 2020 being played in Morgantown.
