Jussi Jokinen Says Rangers A Great Team, Deep From Top To Bottom

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - After scoring three goals and registering two assists in the six-game series against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Penguins forward Jussi Jokinen joined Joe Starkey of Starkey and Mueller to talk about how the team is gearing up for their second-round matchup with the New York Rangers.

Things started with Jokinen talking about the tape the team has watched on the Rangers and what their strengths are.

"It's a combination of lots of things," Jokinen said.  "Girardi and McDonagh are probably the kind of shutdown pair and [will be] playing lots against Crosby."

Jokinen also looked back at what it was like weathering the storm in Game 6 against the Blue Jackets in the first round.

"Not a fun feeling to be a part of," Jokinen recalled.  "You played so well over the last 50 minutes and you have a 4-0 lead, and then it's kind of boom-boom in three minutes they get three goals, but then we found a way to get it done.  That's something we need to do a little bit better of a job."

Things wrapped up with Jokinen talking about playing with Brandon Sutter a little bit more late in the series against the Blue Jackets as Evgeni Malkin moved up to play alongside Sidney Crosby on the top line.

"They're totally two different players.  Geno is so talented offensively, and he's kind of a more east-to-west guy and he likes to make those small passes," said Jokinen. "Brandon Sutter is as reliable as it comes in the National Hockey League.  Just a hard work two-way center."
