Jury Issues Delay Opening Statements In Cyanide Poisoning Trial
PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) -- The trial of a former University of Pittsburgh researcher, accused of poisoning his wife with cyanide, is expected to begin Thursday.
Four alternate jurors were picked today in the trial of Dr. Robert Ferrante, but two were later dismissed.
Two more will be picked in the morning, and then opening statements will started in the afternoon.
The main jury of eight men and four women was chosen on Tuesday.
Ferrante, 66, is charged with criminal homicide for allegedly lacing an energy drink with cyanide to kill his wife, 41-year-old Dr. Autumn Klein, in April 2013.
He's denied that and says he's "devastated" by her death.
The trial is expected to last several weeks.
