Jerry DiPaola: Pitt's Conner Will Be Outstanding
PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- The Pitt Panthers opened the 2014 season with a 62-0 win over Delaware Saturday at Heinz Field.
Running back James Conner rushed for 153 yards and four touchdowns, and Jerry DiPaola of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review told Tab Douglas and Joe Rhoades that he sees big things from the sophomore.
"I think the guy is going to be an outstanding player, one of the best running backs to come out of Pitt, if he doesn't get hurt," DiPaola said. "He's learned a lot about running the football over the past several months from the new running backs coach John Settle, the former NFL running back."
Pitt star sophomore Tyler Boyd injured his finger in the first half against Delaware on a punt return, leading to questions about using Boyd on returns.
"I don't see anything wrong with putting Tyler Boyd at punt returner, because he can change a game for you, he can make it special, he's a special player, and he can turn the tide of a game," DiPaola said.
