Jerome Bettis Talks HOF Nomination, Love Of Fans

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jerome Bettis is once again a Hall of Fame finalist.

Bettis has been down the road before as this is the fifth consecutive season he has made it to the final 15.

"There's nobody on the list that doesn't deserve to be there. So with that being said, if it doesn't happen, you understand that hey, it wasn't my time. But it still doesn't diminish anything that I was able to accomplish throughout my career," Bettis said.

There's no doubt that Bettis is one of the most loved Steelers, and it was obvious this weekend at a West Mifflin Giant Eagle.

Bettis was on hand to sign autographs for fans.

That included three-year old Tyler Wingenroth.

His dad says Tyler already pretends he's a Steeler, Penguin, or Pirate and enjoys going to the games.

Bettis says it's an honor just to be nominated again, and for him, he just enjoys meeting and mingling with loyal fans.

"I haven't played in 9 years, so to come out, it just means they appreciate the work that I put in, and the things I was able to accomplish and they still appreciate me," Bettis said.

The NFL Pro Football Hall Of Fame class of 2015 will be announced on January 31st.
