NEW ENGLAND (KDKA) -- The New England Patriots announced they have signed former Pittsburgh Steelers' linebacker James Harrison.

Harrison referenced Tom Brady on his Instagram page, saying, "finally... A teammate that's older than me!"

Around 5:30 p.m. the Patriots made it official with a tweet:

Pittsburgh cut Harrison on Saturday, Dec. 23.

To say fans are disappointed with the linebacker, would be an understatement.

David Highfield's Report:

Some reacted to the news by saying, "That is sickening." "Oh, my gosh!" and "Sad, sad moment for us."

Some fans are feeling anger. One man told us: "I hope they break his legs."

"I just said what a traitor he is, leaving Pittsburgh for the Patriots," John Krivoniak, of Greensburg said.

And maybe that fact that it's the Patriots is what makes it so difficult.

"Yeah, that's what makes it complicated, but he looks happy," said Autumn Woodland, of Sewickley.

Some fans do support his desire to keep playing.

"I kind of felt like it was going to happen," said Nia Stanley, of Sewickley.

And a few of the fans blame the Steelers for letting him go.

"It was a bad move," said Kirk Davis. "I thought we should have kept James Harrison at least for the leadership role."

Both the Steelers and Patriots have earned a playoff berth and a bye-week in the upcoming NFL playoffs.
