James Conner: 'Definitely' Will See Throwback Uniforms Again

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Pitt football running back James Conner is the best story in college football this year and he joined The Starkey and Mueller Show to talk about his journey to get back onto the playing field.

"It's been a long journey," Conner said. "A lot of ups and downs, but I'm thankful for it all. If I could go back, I wouldn't change a thing, it made me a better person."

Talking about his play on the field, James tells us whose idea it was to have him take a snap on the defensive side of the ball last week against Virginia.

"Coach [Narduzzi] came to me earlier in the week and said, 'What do you think about getting some rushes in?' I was all for it, anything to help our team win," Conner said.

Conner also described the pass rush move he used that almost got him a sack.

"I was just reacting," he said. "We've got the best defensive end in the country on our team, Ejuan Price. So I just watched some of his moves."

Conner also let us in on a little secret about the Pitt throwback uniforms that they wore for the homecoming game against Georgia Tech.

"They're awesome. Just putting them on, and watching the highlight tape before the game of the tradition and the people who wore them before us and respecting them. Those uniforms are awesome," Conner said. "They're real nice and we'll definitely have them on again before the season is over."
