Investigators Searching For Spider-Man Bank Robbery Suspect

CORAOPOLIS (KDKA) -- The ESB Bank on Fifth Avenue in Coraopolis had been open for business for less than an hour on the morning of Feb. 4.

There was only one customer inside the bank when a robber, who was dressed as Spider-Man, came in through the door.

He didn't display a weapon or make any threats, but he was quick and agile.

"He jumped over the counter, instructed the teller to hand over the cash in the drawer," said Allegheny County Police Detective Kevin McCool. "He took the money, jumped back over the counter and exited the store on foot."

Another surveillance camera in the bank showed a different angle.

The suspect can be seen leaping over the counter and through the teller window.

The entire ordeal was over in a matter of seconds.

"He was wearing light pants, a black-hooded sweatshirt, and a Spider-Man mask," said Detective McCool.

The robber dropped some of the stolen money during his getaway.

It was recovered by police, but won't be much help because investigators say the man was wearing gloves.

If you recognize the suspect, Pittsburgh Crime Stoppers is urging you to contact them.

Information leading to an arrest and conviction could be worth up to $1,000.
