14-year-old girl in Pittsburgh area accused of trying to kill mom
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — An Indiana County teenager is facing attempted homicide charges after what state police said was a fight with her mother.
Authorities said it started with a domestic call to apartments along Graceton Village Road in Center Township around 10 p.m. on Saturday. Troopers said they arrived to find the 14-year-old girl had stabbed her 41-year-old mother multiple times. Police said the two were arguing and the teen grabbed a knife and stabbed her mom.
The mother was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in critical condition but was upgraded to stable condition. The teen was taken into custody.
"My grandson heard screaming, lots of screaming," neighbor Deb Stiles said.
"Shocking that a girl would do that to her mom," Stiles added.
On Monday, a restoration company was at the home where the mother and daughter live. The crew has been tasked with cleaning up the crime scene.
"It's kind of surprising," neighbor Donald Gaunt said. "You don't expect anything like that."
Police said the teen has been charged with attempted homicide through Indiana County probation.
