Troopers Shoot, Kill Domestic Abuse Suspect After Fayette County Standoff

MELCROFT, Pa. (KDKA) -- A man was shot and killed after he allegedly came out with a gun raised at state troopers during an hours-long standoff in the area of Indian Creek Valley Road in Fayette County Tuesday.

NewsChopper 2 flew over the scene around noon Tuesday. Several state police cruisers and a SWAT vehicle could be seen on scene.

KDKA's Ross Guidotti reports from the scene that the incident started as a domestic dispute, according to authorities.

Authorities on the scene say the suspect fired shots through the door at state troopers, but no one was injured. The troopers were struck by debris, but they were able to take cover behind their cruiser.

Around 4 p.m., police say the suspect walked out with a gun pointed at troopers, who opened fire on the suspect, killing him.

The name of the suspect has yet to be released. As is procedure, an investigation into the incident is underway by state police.
