Idlewild's Storybook Forest Celebrates 60 Years With New Enchanted Castle

LIGONIER (KDKA) -- Mother Goose still reigns supreme as Storybook Forest in Idlewild Park celebrates its 60th anniversary. But this year, there's something new.

"This is the new enchanted castle, built to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Storybook Forest," says Idlewild spokesman Jeff Croushore as he walks through the castle gate.

Kids are fascinated by a castle that harkens back to the days of King Arthur.

"They enjoy trying to remove the 'sword in the stone' in the castle courtyard as well," Croushore adds.

When "Princess Lily" enters the castle, children line up for a royal audience.

To top things off, Wednesday was Twins Day. Families with twins get in for half price.

Eight-year-old Julie and Andrea came down from Erie. Andrea says they comfort each other when they go on rides together.

"She can always hug you when you're scared," she says. "A friend might think that's weird if they hug you when you're on that ride."

Liam and Aidan prove twins are not always identical.

"He has curly hair and I have straight," Aidan says. "And he has blue eyes and I have brown eyes."

The day culminates with a gathering of twins and their parents at the main stage, where KDKA's Dave Crawley joined Croushore in judging twins who look the most alike, and those who don't.

But there's a prize for everybody. Everyone wins on a day meant for twins.
