Ianni's Pizzeria in Delmont catches fire, investigation into cause underway
DELMONT, Pa. (KDKA) - Crews responded to a fire at a beloved pizza place in Westmoreland County early on Sunday morning.
The fire happened off of Freeport Street at Ianni's Pizzeria in Delmont just before 4 a.m. No one was injured and an investigation is underway into the cause.
The pizza shop said on their Facebook page that the business suffered a significant amount of damage and thanked all of the first responders who showed up to help during the fire.
"This is the worst absolute worst time for us to have such extensive damage to our building," the shop said.
Ianni's was recently visited by Barstool Sports' founder Dave Portnoy as part of his One Bite Pizza review series.
The shop says they've been busy after getting a review from Portnoy and was the first time things had seemed normal since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The owner of Ianni's, Wesley Harris, said he was excited to have Portnoy eat their pizza and that it was an honor for him to go to
Portnoy said the wood-fired style the pizza wasn't what he expected, noting the bigger size of the slices, but gave a good review.
The shop says it will be doing everything it can to open as soon as possible, but in the meantime, they will be open at their two other locations, Ianni's of Vandergrift and Ianna's New Derry.
The owners say they will keep everyone posted on their page with updates.
