Hundreds of additional charges filed against man accused of hiding camera in The Frick Pittsburgh bathroom
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Hundreds of new charges have been filed against Todd Bueschen, the man accused of hiding a camera in the bathroom at The Frick Pittsburgh.
Bueschen was arrested last month after someone on the cleaning staff at The Frick found the camera.
He's accused of allegedly taking multiple pictures of people, ranging from children to senior citizens. He faces more than 200 counts after police believe there were more cameras.
At a preliminary hearing last week, Bueschen's attorney told KDKA that additional charges were expected to be filed.
In new court paperwork filings, Pittsburgh police say that evidence recovered from Bueschen's home led police to believe there are many as seven other locations where cameras were placed.
Investigators determined that two of those cameras were placed in restrooms at the Frick Environmental Center on Beechwood Boulevard.
So many people take advantage of all that Frick Park offers the community. But now, investigators say Bueschen took advantage of parkgoers by planting a hidden "spy camera" in the bathroom.
"It's pretty disturbing. I mean, my daughter comes here all the time because we come home from school every day," said Jorge Santiago.
KDKA's Meghan Schiller talked to regulars Sarah and Jorge Santiago who use the park, and its public restrooms, daily.
"I run in the park every day, so I go a lot when I'm running," said Sarah Santiago.
Detectives say around Thanksgiving, they discovered more than 3,000 images, including pictures captured inside the bathroom near the Frick Park Environmental center. Detectives determined the "sink skirt" had been manipulated, and believe the suspect planted a camera pointed directly at the adjacent toilet.
KDKA-TV discovered a sign on the door Wednesday, saying the bathroom is "temporarily closed."
Bueshen's defense attorney David Shrager says his client has a clean criminal history and now he's lost almost everything.
"If you think about what someone's life is, their life is their family, their reputation, their work and their faith and I know he still has his faith, but those other things have been severely damaged and he's going to need to address that and repair that step by step," Shrager said.
According to police, the victims captured in the images include children ranging in age from 3 to 8 years old, along with hundreds of adults and senior citizens. The victims are all partially undressed and exposed.
Bueschen was taken into custody and is being held in the Allegheny County Jail on $100,000 bond.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for later this month.
